De Kunsthal Kookt

Ik las in het Rotterdam-pas Magazine over het Kunsthal Kookt evenement. Tientallen biologische bedrijven zouden daar vertegenwoordigt zijn tijdens een soort Food Event.

Dus ma en ik erop uit met onze Rotterdam-pas :)

We hadden geen idee wat we moesten verwachten en waren dan ook erg verrast over de vele stands en bezoekers. Je kon het zo gek niet bedenken of het was er: stands gespecialiseerd in wijn, kazen, chocola, biologische groenten, bijzonder brood, paddestoelen, honing, sambals, British pies... We keken onze ogen uit en hebben verschillende dingen geproefd en gekocht.

Na een paar uur waren we de drukte een beetje zat en zijn we, bepakt en bezakt met onze aankopen, op huis aan gegaan. Maar het is zeker iets om op de kalender te zetten voor volgend jaar!


I read about a cooking event at the Kunsthal in a local magazine. Tens of eco companies from the area would attend this event, which made my mom and I curious.

We had no idea what to expect and were quite surprised about the number of stalls as well as the large number of visitors. You name it, and it was there: companies specializing in wine, cheeses, chocolate, eco veggies, special breads, mushrooms, honey, sauces, British pies... We spend a lot of time tasting and buying stuff :)

After a few hours, the crowd sort of got to us, so we decided to head home with our purchases. But it definately is something I would want to mark on my calendar for next year!

Omdat je een vlucht kunt maken in een zeppelin! (ook al is het maar voor 2 weken...)

I saw him!

Vandaag signeerde Bill Clinton zijn boek "Geef en verander de wereld bij" Donner. Toen ik rond half 10 naar de zaak liep stond er al een rij tot om de hoek bij Jungerhans! (zo'n 150 meter...). En hij zou pas rond 11 uur komen, kun je nagaan! Het schijnt dat er 's ochtends om half 8 al mensen stonden... (en het was écht klereweer!)

's Middags stonden een paar collega's voor het raam op de 10e dat uitkijkt op het binnenplaatsje aan de achterkant van Donner. Roept er 1: "Hee, daar heb je 'm!" Ik dacht dat 'ie een geintje maakte, dus fototoestel niet gepakt... Maar hij was het dus echt! Hij verliet net de winkel om in de auto te stappen, gaf nog iemand een hand en toen was 'ie weg.

Ik heb 'm gezien! Weliswaar vanaf de 10e verdieping, maar toch! ;)

Today Bill Clinton held a book signing at Donner for his new book "Giving: how each of us can change the world". When I walked passed on my way to work around 9.30, there was already a line all the way around the corner of Jungerhans! (approx. 150 meters) And he wasn't due to arrive until 11 a.m! I heard that there some people were there from 7.30 on... (and the weather was REALLY bad!)

In the afternoon, a couple of colleagues wre looking out of our office window on the 11th floor (where my desk is too) that overlooks the small courtyard at the back of Donner when 1 of them called out: "Hey, there he is!" I thought he was kidding so I didn't bring my camera, but there he really was! He left the store through the back door, shook someone's hand, got in the car that was waiting and rode off.

So I saw him! Sure, all the way up from the 11th floor, but who cares? ;)

Because they manage to make everyday things into something unusual.

Why I love this city

Omdat je, nietsvermoedend rondlopend door het centrum, zomaar zoiets als dit tegen kan komen!
Because you can just wander around the city center and then suddenly come across something like this unexpectedly!
