Art Specially Event

This weekend the Art Specially Event is being held in Zeist. It's one of my favorite craft shows because it mainly focusses on rubber stamping (and a bit a scrapbooking as well). Jessica didn't want to come because she doesn't use rubber stamps much and Alexandra had already spent her 'allowance' last week in London. So off I went by myself.

It was unbelievably crowded. I couldn't even find an empty parkingspot so I parked my car on the side of the road and crossed my fingers that it wouldn't be towed (small possibility with all the other cars that were ALSO parked there - it would have kept A LOT of tow trucks busy to get rid of all of them...)
Inside it was insane as well. I did get some cool things (some unmounted stamps and the March issue of Creating Keepsakes that I never received despite my subscription...) but after a round along all the stands I had had enough of all those people.

Near Zeist is the town of Austerlitz, where an army camp was based during the French occupation in the early 19th century. After Napoleon's victory at Austerlitz in eastern Europe, the soldiers built an earth pyramid in his honour.
Since I was in the area anyway and I've been fascinated with Napoleon/the Empire era for ages, I decided to pop by. It was closed and undergoing reconstruction, but cool to see anyway.

Latest obsession: FanFiction

*LOL*

I hadn't even heard of the phenomenon until recently, but there are entire sites dedicated to stories published by fans of certain books/characters.

One of those sites is Twilighted, and contrary to other, more 'general' sites, the content here is strictly Twilight-related.

And talking of content: the stories are categorized and some REALLY make you blush! *LOL*

Dinner

I was supposed to go to the theater with my mom to see the latest show by Herman Finkers yesterday, but due to illness all his shows have been cancelled for the time being.

And since a friend of mine will have to go into hospital shortly, I went out to dinner at the local Greek restaurant with him and his wife instead.

As usual we had a fun time, and fortunatley he can look at his future with a sense of self-mockery ("It will take a while before I get the hang of walking with that prosthetic limb (literally in Dutch: get it under my knee) - especially since I won't HAVE a knee anymore!")

For anybody who was wondering...

Oh no he di-int!!

3x raden waar RP dit weekend was...
In BENTONVILLE, ARKANSAS!!

Guess where RP made an appearance this weekend...
BENTONVILLE, ARKANSAS!!

As is the same town I attended Bentonville High School at as exchange student after graduating secondary school in NL...

What are the odds???

Tough luck

A little over 2 years ago, a friend of mine fell with his moped. Among his injuries were numerous leg fractures, that were repaired with steel pins. After about a month, he noticed a strange spot on his skin, around the edge of the plaster cast on his leg. It turned out he had a bone-eating bacteria in his leg. That meant high doses of antibiotics and no reconstructive surgery for a while.
Fortunately the antibiotics worked and after a few weeks he could focus on his recovery again.

All's well that ends well, or so one would think...

A while ago, the bacteria returned. So it was back to the hospital and a new round of antibiotics.
He called me today. The bacteria seems resistent this time. To prevent it will spread to the rest of his body, it's not unlikely that his leg will need to be amputated.

And all because he fell on a slippery road...

GQ Magazine

* D R O O L *

I normally don't read GQ magazine. Didn't even know it existed until recently, to be quite honest...
That was, until it was pointed out to me that there will be an extensive interview with Robert Pattinson in the April issue. Not only that, but he's also on the cover!
The magazine hits the newsstands on 24/3 and (woohoo!) Donner also sells it. No surprise what I'll be getting myself next week...

Dream kitchen

Leukleukleuk!

There is lots of remodeling to be done in The House, and one of things that has the highest priority is a new kitchen. I saw a nice retro-style kitchen at Bruynzeel (a replica of the 30's Piet Zwart-kitchen), but during one of my Google-sessions I came across this site called American Kitchen. These people import original 50's kitchen and make them look beautiful and brand new again.

Coincidentally, I'd seen one of these kitchens in a magazine yeaaaars ago, but since I moved into a rental apartment at the time, I didn't do anything to update the kitchen.

But... if you're going to do some remodeling anyway, why not get a really cool one?? I mean, if I still LOVE it after 8 years since I first saw it, chances are I'm still going to like it for years to come, right?? Also did some googling for a matching retro SMEG fridge - I mean, if you're going to do it, you'd better do it WELL...

Their showroom is only open on Sundays or by appointment, so mom and I drove up to Amsterdam today to have a look. I explained what I had in mind, and they are going to send me a proposal. Can't wait!

1 good reason to watch the Oscars this year...

Robert Pattinson was erbij!

This Sunday night was Oscar night. And... Robert Pattinson was there too!

Since I don't have digital television, I had to wait a few days until photos and clips appeared on the internet.

One word to describe him: HOT! Apparently he's also been voted one of the best dressed men of this years event by several websites.

This year's Oscar for best actor went to Sean penn for his role in 'Milk', in which he plays a gay character. Other actore have also won Oscars for similar roles in the past: Tom Hanks in 'Philadelphia', Charlize Theron in 'Monster'...
Coincidentally, later this year Rob is starring in a film about Salvador Dali ('Little Ashes') and his relationship with the Spanish poet Frederico Garcia Lorca.
Who knows - perhaps he won't just be presenting but actually accepting an award next year!
