De wekker bijtijds gezet want ik had een hoop te doen.
Gisteren crashte m'n computer opeens. Ik zette 'm aan en kreeg een zwart scherm met een vaag tekstje over rebooten enzo erop... M'n Persoonlijke Helpdesk Alex gebeld en het kwam erop neer dat het hoogstwaarschijnlijk niet best was. Wel ja, kan er ook nog wel bij!
Nu is 'ie pas 10 maanden oud, dus een gevalletje garantie zou je zeggen. Alleen... ik kon de aankoopbon niet meer vinden... Halve huis overhoop gehaald (ruimt wel lekker op) maar nergens te bekennen. Dan maar hopen dat ze het giroafschrift als aankoopbewijs accepteren...
Afijn, naar de computerdokter dus met m'n kast in een grote tas. Ze zouden er wel even naar kijken. Het vooruitzixht de rest van de week zonder computer te zitten stond me allerminst aan (gek hoe je je daarvan afhankelijk kunt voelen!) maar vooruit.
Ook meteen langs de bieb om een gereserveerd boek dat binnen was op te halen (Nieuwe Maan - Twilight deel 2 in het Nederlands!) en een half uurtje in de rij gestaan op het Stadhuis voor de nieuwe Rotterdampas.
Tussen de bedrijven door belde de verkoopmakelaar ook nog om te informeren of ik nog interesse had. Ja dus, en meteen een bod gedaan. Even later een tegenbod ontvangen (véél te hoog) en de makelaar niet meer te pakken gekregen om mijn bod iets te verhogen. Wordt morgen vervolgd?
Ik was net thuis of de computerwinkel belde: het probleem was al verholpen! Om de één of andere reden had 'ie ineens besloten om vanaf de D-schijf op te starten i.p.v. van de C-schijf, en ja, dat werkt niet hè! Gelukkig was het service van de zaak en hebben ze niet eens gevráágd om m'n aankoopbon. Zoiets maakt je dag toch meteen weer goed?!?
Thuis de computer weer aangesloten (ik geef toe, er is wat gevloek en getier aan te pas gekomen...), ennnnnn hij doet het weer. Woohoo!
's Avonds met Baloo op controle bij de dierenarts. Die was erg tevreden hoe de wond heelt en hoe goed Baloo zich hier doorheen slaat. De rekening die nog openstond van zaterdag (en waarvan ik het ergste vreesde...) viel reuze mee: ze hadden me gematst en alleen de medicijnen in rekening gebracht. Nóg een meevaller!
En dát voor een maandag...
I set my alarm early because I had a busy day ahead.
Yesterday my computer crashed all of a sudden. I switched it on and a black screen appeared, with some vague text about rebooting or something... Called my Personal Helpdesk Alex and he suspected the worst. Perfect timing!
I've only had this computer for 10 months, so I was optimistic about it getting fixed. Except... I could not find the receipt ANYWHERE (but at least my house is a bit less cluttered now). Fingers crossed they'd accept my bank statement as proof of purchase...
Anyways, it meant a trip to the computer doctor. They promised to check it out, but it meant having to go without a computer for the best part of this week which I wasn't exactly looking forward to (strange how you've come to rely on that thing so much!).
Also stopped by at the library since they'd let me know the copy of New Moon in Dutch that I had ordered was in, and I spent half an hour in line at City Hall to get the 2009 Rotterdam Pass.
Between all this, the realtor called whether I was still intersted in the house. Um - yes! Placed my starting bid and got a counterbid that was still WAY too high in my opinion. Placed another bid, but didn't hear anything more today, so who knows - to be continued tomorrow?
I had just gotten home when the computer store called to say they'd already fixed the problem. Apparently my computer decided to start up from the D-drive instead of the C-drive and failed miserably (DOH!). Fortunately I didn't even have to wave with my bank statement - service on the house. Talk about a nice break!
Back home I hooked the computer up again (I admit that I did a bit of cursing here and there...), anddddd we're back in business! Woohoo!
After dinner I had another appointment at the vet's for Baloo's check up. The vet was very pleased with the progress of the healing of the wound and also with the way Baloo battled through this. The bill from this weekend that I hadn't paid yet (and that I was very much dreading...) wasn't too bad either. They'd cut me some slack and only charged the medication. Another break!
All in all not too bad for a Monday!
