De wond van Baloo ging steeds méér ontsteken en, uh, nogal stinken. Dat kan nooit goed zijn. Dus gisteren maar opnieuw de dierenarts gebeld. Ik heb weliswaar een afspraak staan voor maandagavond, maar ze was het ermee eens dat het waarschijnlijk niet zo'n best idee was om tot dan te wachten.
Dus pa en ma gechartered om Baloo 's middags weg te brengen en afgesproken dat ik haar vandaag weer op mocht komen halen.
De wond is opnieuw open gemaakt, alle hechtingen eruit, alles goed schoon gemaakt en om alles beter te laten genezen niet opnieuw gehecht. Dus het beessie heeft nu een open wond van een centimeter of 5 aan haar keel...
Speciale wondspray meegekregen om de wond mee te behandelen (je moet 'r in een houtgreep houden om dat spul aan te kunnen brengen...), verband om het eventueel mee af te dekken (maar dat is helemáál geen doen met slechts 2 handen en een spartelend beest) en een extra voorraadje antibiotica.
Ben benieuwd hoe succesvol dit is...
Baloo's wound was getting more and more infected and frankly started to reek pretty badly... Somehow I was not convinced this was good, so I called the vet again yesterday even though I have an appointment scheduled for next Monday. She agreed with me that it was better not to wait until Monday.
My parents graciously were available to take Baloo to the vet and we arranged that I could pick her up again today.
The vet reopened the wound, removed all stitches and cleaned it all up and decided NOT to close the wound up again to help the healing process. This effectively means that Baloo now has a 2" hole in het throat...
They gave me a special spray to treat the wound (which is actually pretty hard to use when you have to wrestle with a critter), dressings in case I want to cover the wound (yeah right, like that's going to happen with only 2 hands and an uncooperative guinea pig) and a fresh supply of antibiotics.
I wonder whether this treatment is more successfull...
